Do all cigar stores use Spanish cedar for their walk in humidors?
A- Every store owner will say, “Of course we use Spanish cedar in our humidor”, but this is not the case. When entering your favorite walk-in, does it smell like your humidor at home? Are the shelves of the store solid “Spanish cedar”? If the smell is off, it is probably not Spanish cedar. Note that most humidor shelves are not solid Spanish cedar, as Spanish cedar is not actually your everyday cedar; it is Cedrela Odorata, an exotic wood. Building shelves out of these slim exotic trees would cost a fortune. Most stores will not spend 20 to 50 thousand dollars in their humidor. So, if you find a store with Spanish cedar shelving in the humidor, be amazed. Consider worshipping it. Then call us so we can do the same.
